Imo State Government has joined the hierarchy of the State Police Command, family, friends and well wishers to congratulate the Commander of the Tiger Base unit of Imo Police Command, Odeyiwa Oladimeji on his promotion from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Odeyiwa Oladimeji’s promotion was by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.

In his speech while decorating the promotee with his new rank in the office of the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie described Oladimeji as a gallant Police Officer, who has served meritoriously.

While commending Oladimeji for what he described as well deserved special promotion, the Governor reminded him the saying that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected.

“So far, you have been commended for your service to the Nigeria Police Force, and this is the beginning of many more to come. I implore you to continue to work hard. The God Almighty will continue to protect you and other Police Officers in Imo State.
.
The governor also used the opportunity to applaud the state Commissioner of Police, who he said has done extremely well in discharging his duties in the state, pointing out that under his watch, the crime rate in the state has been reduced to the barest minimum.

Uzodimma described him as, “a man of intellect, a man of wisdom, a man that thinks before he acts”, adding, I want to, on this day commend you for your service to the Nigeria Police Force, because without you directing the affairs, we couldn’t have had young officers receiving special promotion”.

He reassured the Commissioner that the state government will spare no resources in ensuring that the Command gets whatever it needs to discharge its duties effectively.

In his speech, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma said the IGP decided to give the deserving police officers accelerated promotion, disclosing that the Tiger Base Commander, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.

“It is not just a promotion, he was given special promotion, because of his remarkable achievements, he has achieved a lot in Imo, serving currently as the head of the Tiger Base”.

The CP made it clear the Tiger Base has contributed enormously to the reduction of crimes in the state, advising against any call for the disbandment of the unit, but rather it should be reinforced with more personnel and equipment.

Speaking, ACP Linus Nwaiwu described Oladimeji as exceptionally loyal officer who he will be willing to work with, anytime any day, adding, “honestly, this man deserves what IGP has given to him.
.
“He has put his life on the line, he has actually worked for Imo people. I am still praying that God will continue to protect him, and give him the courage to continue the good works he is doing, and take him to the zenith of his career”.

The recipient, Oladimeji who said he was short of words had said, “I give glory to the Almighty God for making it possible for us to see today. I will also give special thanks to the Inspector General of Police, my able Commissioner of Police, as well as His Excellency, Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for reposing confidence in me”.

He recalled that he has been serving in Imo State Police Command since 2019 without being found wanting, promising not to relent in his effort and passion for crime fighting. He stressed that the award would spur him to do more.
