Anambra Lawmaker, Mbachu faults Soludo over non-inclusion of LG Election in 2024 Budget

A member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nigeria Mbachu has said that the non-inclusion of local government election in the budget shows that the state government is not ready for council poll next year.

Manchu representing Awka South Constituency 1, further said that the Local Government as the last tier of Government had suffered so much due to lack of election.

The Lawmaker who stated this shortly after Governor Charles Soludo’s presented the 2024 appropriation budget to the house of Assembly for consideration, noted, “Going through the budget presented that it’s glaring there are no intentions of conducting LGAs elections next year.”

“On page 475 of the budget the budget for Anambra State independent Electoral Commission for this current year was 89,120,000.00M while the projected estimate for the incoming year is129,120,000.00m.

“You find out that there’s no feasibility or readiness for Local Government Elections for the incoming year.

“Local Government as the 3rd tier of government is the bedrock of governance. Leadership and political tutelage is heavily mounted on this tier of government and should be upheld thus.

“If this can be wishfully considered I’ll be glad. For now, the budget can go for 2nd reading,” he stated.
