Defection: 'Your decision to join APC, our moment of pride', Tinubu tells Gov. Kefas in monumental rally

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Taraba State’s decision to join the All progressive Congress (APC) as a moment of pride for the party.

Tinubu made the declaration while receiving Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State into the APC family at a Grand Ceremony rally held yesterday at Jolly Nyame Township Stadium in Jalingo.

The President who was represented at the rally by his vice, Kashim Shettima said he was delighted to welcome Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba State into the Ruling Party.

He noted that the defection would further strengthen the APC and promote unity and development across the country.

Tinubu assured the new converts of the Party’s commitment to inclusive governance and progress.

“I want to state categorically that your decision today to join the moving train (APC) remains a moment of pride, joy for the party” Tinubu told the monumental crowd.

Earlier, Governor Agbu Kefas said his decision to join the APC was motivated by service to the people rather than political survival. “I am not in APC for survival, I am here for service. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu understands leadership. We are aligning not to chase ambition but to develop Nigeria”, he said.

Kefas told the State’s youth that the defection was a long-term investment in their Future. “To our youths, this movement is for your future” he added.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada described the Governor’s defection as a major boost for the party and assure him of full support as he consolidates governance in the state.

He urged the party members to unite and deliver the dividends of democracy to the peoples of Taraba.
