Youth Volunteers Move To Donate Food Items To Indigents In Enugu

Nigerian Youths under the auspices of two philanthropic organisations known as Captain Douglas Chukwu Innovation’s Initiative (CDC) and Diaspora Voices Network (DVN) have unveiled plans to offer food items to the indigents in Enugu State.

Disclosing this to journalists shortly after their inaugural meeting in Enugu on Friday, the Director of the group, Madus Mathias, said that they are poised to extend the “Feed the Poor Outreach” to rural communities in Enugu State.

Mathias noted that there are many people in Nigeria who cannot afford even two square meals a day due to the worsening economic situation in the country.

“Nigeria’s economy, the largest in Africa, faces a complex situation characterized by slow growth and high inflation”, he said.

According to him, “Nigeria in recent times has recorded unprecedented security challenges such as Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) attacks, militancy, armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, Fulani-Herders farmers clashes, cultism among other social vices. All these have affected us negatively to the extent that many of our farmers don’t go to their farms again for fear of being killed.

“This why we have come together to pool our resources, seek sponsors or philanthropists who will help in alleviating the suffering of the less-privileged in our midst”, he added.

He commended the youths for coming out to join in the fight against hunger, urging them to be focused and resilient in the prgramme for the benefits of the down trodden.
