An apex umbrella of Igbo socio-cultural associations, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has re-stated its ‘confidence, trust and pride’ in Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, said this yesterday when he led members of his Executive on solidarity visit to Governor Uzodimma at Government House, Owerri.

Iwuanyanwu, while congratulating the governor, appreciated him for affirming his stand and support for the new Imo Charter of equity after his victory at the governorship election last Saturday.
The victorious governor had promised to support the emergence of the next governor from Owerri zone in line with the dictates of the charter.

Iwuanyanwu listed some of the outstanding achievements which endeared the governor to Imo people, leading to his massive and unprecedented victory at the polls to include; Influencing the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, to a Federal University Teaching Hospital, influencing the upgrade of Alvan Ikoku College of Education to a Federal University of Education, initiating the dredging of the Oguta Lake/Orashi River, to the Atlantic Ocean, establishment of the Imo State College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, massive youths empowerment programmes, especially in Information Communication Technology (ICT), among others.

The Ohanaeze Leader made it clear that Uzodimma has remained the highest supporter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and prayed God to continue to sustain him.

Responding, Governor Uzodimma appreciated the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the visit, acknowledging that the organization has remained one of his greatest supporters.

While reaffirming his stand and support for the Imo charter of equity, the governor also re-emphasized his pledge not to betray the confidence reposed in him by the entire people of Imo State, promising to continue to provide quality leadership, not just for Imo State but for the entire Igbo race.

He promised to continue his support for Ohanaeze Ndigbo and to work hand in hand with the organization towards the development of the Igbo nation.
