Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Friday, at the State Executive Chambers, Government House Owerri, swore in the newly appointed Acting Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice I.O. Ogugua.

Uzodimma also sworn-in Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Paul Obinatu and the Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Skill Acquisition and Social Responsibility, Professor Chinonye Love-Moses.

Addressing the new appointees, in the presence of some stakeholders and dignitaries, Governor Uzodimma urged them to respect the oath of office they have taken, to serve the state diligently and sincerely, and ensure that their actions are geared towards the greater interest of the people.

The Governor made bold to state that the Judiciary has been under siege in the state, vowing to go frontal this time, to ensure the hydra headed challenges of the state Judiciary is confronted headlong and solved.

“Today we have sworn-in the most senior Judge in Imo State Judiciary as the Chief Judge of the State. She is the most senior Judge, no doubt about that, but as I was about to make the appointment, I received a very weighty allegation against her and in that dilemma, I forwarded the allegation to the National Judicial Council.
.
“In their wisdom, they said, yes, we have seen the allegation, but the constitutional provision is that the most senior Judge should act, and that is what I have complied with. It is nothing personal, it is still in my determination to get things right”.

The Governor used the opportunity to emphasize on the new Ministry he just created: Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Skill Acquisition and Social Responsibility. He said the Ministry is created to carter for the vulnerable and downtrodden in the society, with Professor Moses…….as the pioneer Commissioner.

Responding, the newly sworn-in Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice I.O. Ogugua appreciated the Governor for finding time to conduct the swearing-in, promising to continue to commend him and the state to the grace of God, that God will continue to “lead and guide us in all that we do”
.
Speaking on behalf of other newly sworn-in Commissioner, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Paul Obinatu appreciated the Governor for reposing confidence in them and giving them the privilege to serve the state in their various capacities.

He promised that they will work diligently, to transform the governor’s laudable vision to greater reality.
