Uzodimma flags off distribution of Tinubu’s rice for South East, South South Christians, Muslims  .

The distribution of trailers load of rice donated by President Bola Tinubu to Christians and Muslims in the eleven states of South East and South South zones of Nigeria was yesterday flagged off in Owerri, by Governor Hope Uzodimma, who represented the President.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony, Uzodimma said the President’s gesture was with the holy period for both Christians and Muslims;  Lent and Ramadan respectively, which is period of charity.

The Governor said, as the president work hard to bring permanent solution to the hardship in the country, in his wisdom he has decided to donate palliatives from time to time, for the time being, to cushion the effect of what he described as global economic recession.

He urged the religious leaders and people to commit the country to serious prayers, especially for the President not to be distracted, because he has very good intention for the country, and with God, all things are possible.

On the criteria and method of distributing the palliative, Governor Uzodimma said the President directed that each of the eleven states will get two trailers, one for Muslims and one for Christians, amounting to one  thousand, two hundred (1,200) bags for each state.

In addition he said each of the states will get five million Naira (N5,000,000) to take care of the logistics for transportation, distribution and others.

The  Imo number one citizen advised the religious leaders to ensure that the rice is given to those who really need it, those who may not have anything to eat after breaking their fast.

He disclosed that he directed that each state should send a delegation of not more than ten persons, to take home their own share of the rice, to avoid overcrowding, which could lead to the stampede that have been witnessed during such palliative distribution in recent times.

In their separate speeches, CAN chairmen or their representatives and their Muslim counterparts from the eleven South East and South South states appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, through Governor Hope Uzodimma for repeating the largesse given to Christians and Muslims in the region, also during the Ramadan and Lenten period last year.
