Uzodimma calls for comprehensive audit of abandoned projects in Niger Delta states

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has called for a comprehensive audit of all abandoned projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission in Niger Delta states.

Governor Uzodimma made this request in his address to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Engr Momoh and his entourage who paid him courtesy visit at the Government House Owerri, during their working visit to the state.

The governor asserted that the number of abandoned NDDC projects in Imo State, if completed will be even enough to solve the infrastructural need of the state, calling on the team to go round and see things for themselves and consequently take action to remedy the situation.

He called on the Ministry to see how it could rearrange the amnesty programme of the federal government to add more value to youths of the states involved.

Uzodimma however called on young men and women from the states involved, to desist from acts that constitute economic sabotage to the federal government and also called on the government to roll out programmes to engage, “Our young men and women, reduce unemployment, as well as strengthen their means of living and make life more meaningful to them”.

Earlier in his address, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Engineer Abubakar Momoh informed the governor that his team was in the state to inspect ongoing projects of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in the state, having earlier done that in seven out of the nine states under the Niger Delta Development Commission.

He solicited the support of the governor, as according to him, there is a challenge of uncompleted projects in the Niger Delta region.

The Minister informed the governor that the National Council for Niger Delta, a major umbrella for key stakeholders in Niger Delta region has been scheduled to take place in Delta State, between 16th and 18th of April, to discuss better ways forward for the region.

He congratulated the governor for the massive achievements of his government in Imo State.
