.
A teacher in one of the smart schools, Owo, in Enugu State, Ms Esther Ogbu, has cried out over the invasion of her school where she was attacked by her former husband, Okolie Anthony.
.
Okolie, a lecturer with the Department of Public Administration and Local Government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was alleged to have invaded the school at about 4pm with two policemen who were dressed in plain clothes to demand for the custody of his children who have been with the ex-wife since they separated about two years ago.
.
The former wife had protested on the grounds that the twin children were just three years old, arguing that they would be left to be with their father when they attain the age of seven years as the law provides.
.
But Okolie, apparently dissatisfied with the position of the former wife, engaged the services of Policemen to arrest her and two other teachers in the school.
.
The Policemen later proceeded to the residence of the former wife where our source alleged they forcefully took the two children away.
.
The former wife’s brother and two teachers who had demanded that the two policemen identify themselves properly since they were not in uniform, were all arrested on the order of the lecturer.
.
Esther, her brother, and two teachers are currently being detained at Idodo Police Station, Enugu on the order of the lecturer.
.
She alleged that before now, the former husband has been threatening her life over the custody of the children.
.
But she said that she never denied the lecturer access to the children, explaining that all she wanted was to take custody of the children until about seven years as provided by the law.
.
She appealed to the Enugu Commissioner of Police to order her release, two other teachers and her brother as this was a family matter.
.
She said that there was no reason why the Police should detain her, the brother and two other teachers in the school for demanding the identify of the policemen who came there in mufti.
.
Esther and former husband, Okolie, who teaches in UNN, had separated about two years ago over irreconcilable differences.
.
The two who married after meeting in UNN years back are yet to approach the court or Welfare for formal dissolution of the marriage.
