Unknown gunmen kidnap Catholic Priest in Benue as fear grips residents

Fear of uncertainty has gripped the people of Awume community in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State following the kidnapping of a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Adikwu by unknown gunmen.

Rev Fr. Adikwu who is of Otukpo Diocese area of Benue State was said to have been abducted at Awume community around 10pm on Thursday.

“Yesterday (Thursday)  night at about 10pm, some gunmen stormed Ajegbe Awume, Ohimini Benue State, the kidnappers went straight to the church premises and kidnapped the Rev. father in charge of St. Margaret Parish.”, a source revealed.

Confirming the story, the State Police Public Relations Officer,  Catherine Anene said that the command was working towards rescuing the priest.

“The information got to us this morning, (Friday) and we are working on it,”  the police image maker said.
