Tinubu Appoints Enugu Attorney-General, Kingsley Udeh As Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) as Minister.

Udeh who is the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Enugu State, fills the vacuum from Enugu State created by Chief Uche Nnaji who resigned last month as Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology over alleged certificate forgery.

The appointment was announced in a letter sent to the Senate and read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In the letter, President Tinubu stated that the nomination was made in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), urging the Senate to give the request prompt attention.

“In compliance with the provisions of Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu-Udeh for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, distinguished Senate President and distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read in part.

After reading the letter, the Senate referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for immediate consideration.

His appointment fills the ministerial position left vacant by Nnaji, who resigned on October 7, 2025, amid widespread allegations of university certificate forgery.

Meanwhile, Enugu State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Ben Nwoye has sent congratulatory message to the ministerial nominee.

“On behalf of the APC Family, Enugu State I congratulate Dr Kingsley Tochi Udeh, SAN the Enugu State Ministerial Norminee. Dr Udeh is a great man with implacable character and verifiable academic credentials.

“I am sure that Dr Udeh will bring his wealth of experience to help actualize President Tinubu Renewed Hope agenda. Once again, congratulation Dr Udeh, SAN”, Nwoye stated.
