The Temple of Justice Foundation has commended the leadership of Enugu State House of Assembly and its members for a proactive display of legislative competence.

The Foundation stated that the lawmakers are alive to the legislative needs of the good people of Enugu State especially at this desperate period of inhumanity of man to man.

Speaking after an extraordinary session of the Foundation held on July 7, 2025 in Enugu, the Executive Director of the Temple of Justice Foundation, Ozo Alex Amujiogu Esq, made express satisfaction on the various human-oriented Bills initiated by the Assembly many of which had been assented into law while others lined up in progressive stages of legislative law making.

According to the Foundation, Enugu State has never had it so progressive within the ambit of the legislative arm of government than what we currently have in the State .

The Foundation further commended the great synergy and partnership of progress also displayed with the Executive arm under the able leadership of His Excellency- Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State who at crucial intervals ignite Executive bills that tends to redress the ills and dangers threatening the peace and stability of the good people of Enugu State.

“In more specific terms Bills ranging from Constitution of forest guards laws,prohibitions of “Okeite”, Prohibitions of alarming releases of “Achi ere”/ other poisinious substance on fellow citizens of the state in the rural areas which is gradually extending it’s tentacles to Enugu township , forstalling of land grabbing and double land sales among others, are Bills which are worthy of commendation by this noble State Assembly..

“It is indeed, disheartening that lots of lives and properties have been lost as a result of dangerous herdsmen attacks, communities have also being displaced with its corresponding socio- economic crisis.

“It is also not in doubt that in our local communities, ritual killings are also increasing at geometrical rates and very condemnable also wherein Children and women are mainly prime targets.What then shall we say regarding the current trend of terminating peoples right of movement and in many cases- right to life through the mystical release of what is known in local parlance as “Achi ere’.(poisinious- influenced injury).

“Currently, one needs no binocular to see that almost in every community in Enugu State,. A lot of citizens of the state had been engulfed with Achiere and same should not be allowed to continue.

“The above portrays the urgent need for the bills to be passed into law without further ado.
.
“Moreso, the efficiency of the House Committees, in the discharge of their sub assignment , is further commended.
.
“We therefore assure the leadership of the Assembly as led by the Speaker- Hon Uche UGWU , of the unwavering support of the foundation in seeing that their legislative tenure emerges in gold
.
“Hence , this tempo must be sustained”, he stated.
