The Shola Adefolalu Gaska Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation devoted to supporting the vulnerable on Valentine’s Day paid a visit to Rebecca’s Room at Queens College that left a lingering impression.
This is contained in a statement released on Sunday by Ife Udenna, the Foundation’s Media Relations and Campaign Manager
The statement noted that the foundation’s visit to Queens College Lagos which turned out to be an unforgettable encounter was originally to meet the Foundation’s first-ever Lagos-based ALIVE scholarship beneficiary, Aminat Oladele
“The plan was to present Aminat with her scholarship confirmation letter and a special Valentine’s gift. But what unfolded was truly special.
“As Salt chatted with Aminat, a buzz filled the room. More girls started streaming in, and Salt soon discovered it was a surprise Valentine’s party organized by the 74/79 set for the visually impaired girls!
“The celebration took place in Rebecca’s Room.
“Rebecca’s Room is a specially designed space, equipped with JAWS-enabled computers that ensured visually-impaired users interact with computers by giving audio prompts that ease navigation within computer applications.
“The room also has Braille embossers, ensuring visually impaired students can thrive alongside their peers. It’s a symbol of what can be achieved when people come together to support a noble cause.
“At the celebration, Salt met some of the passionate individuals behind this vision, including Snr. Dayo Jalekun, Snr. Anita Kurubo, Chiedu Eseka Okolo, and Abigail Olowoshoke.
“The Class of ’79 ladies have poured their hearts into this project, creating a ripple effect of kindness that touches lives.
“The connection with Aminat was made possible through the set’s Adopt A Girl Programme,” the statement read in part.
The Shola Adefolalu Gaska Foundation urged like minded members of the society to be part of this impactful journey by supporting Rebecca’s Room or adopting a girl in need of financial assistance.
Salt explained that the joy and love that filled that room were palpable.
“These girls are receiving more than just financial support – they’re being loved and empowered in every way.
“The Shola Adefolalu Gaska Foundation is so happy to be a part of such an amazing initiative!,” the foundation stated.

The Shola Adefolalu Gaska Foundation also provides monthly stipends to 26 economically disadvantaged households across 9 states and manages a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse amongst other projects.
