Police arrest 2 youths for attempting to steal water tanks in Enugu Community

Police operatives in Enugu have arrested two youths for attempting to steal water tanks at Orba community in Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The names of the suspects were given as Chiegeonu Eze and Obinna Ezeugwu, aged 22 and 23, respectively.

Confirming the story on Monday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Dan Ndukwe, said they were picked up at Amube-Ohum in Orba community, country home of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

His words: “The duo, who were found to be specialized in stealing water tanks, commonly called Gee-Pee tank, from building construction sites in the community, were arrested while attempting to steal two tanks from a site on the said date.

“The two (2) tanks and seven (7) others were recovered from them, while their confessional statements led to the further recovery of seventeen (17) others from one of their receivers of the stolen tanks, who is at large.

“Meanwhile, owners of the tanks have been identifying them, while upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects were arraigned in court and accordingly remanded to Nsukka Custodial Centre for further hearing.
