NUJ Enugu Council set to induct former Governor Ugwuanyi into Hall of Fame

Enugu State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is pleased to announce the induction of former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, into their Hall of Fame.
.
During his two-term tenure from 2015 to 2023, Governor Ugwuanyi made significant contributions to the welfare of journalists in Enugu State.
.
Notable achievements include the rehabilitation of the press centre and donation of a bus to the Correspondents’ Chapel.
.
Additionally, some journalists were sponsored for a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and the construction of the NUJ Secretariat at Nsukka was undertaken within the same period.
.
According to a release by the Chairman of the Council Comrade Obinna Ogbuka, this year’s Press Week celebration will take place on December 4, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, with the theme: National Unity and Good Governance: The Role of the Media”
.
The lecture will be delivered by the President of the Nigerian Senate, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, while former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu will chair the occasion.

Also, the Special Guest of Honour will be the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Okezie Kalu, while the Chief Host will be the Governor Enugu State, Dr. Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The NUJ Press Week is an annual event when journalists reflect on the performances of those in authority and review the Union’s activities for the year.
.
The release stressed that notable Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various endeavours will also be honoured.
