Nigeria@64: Imo Governor, Uzodimma expresses 'pride in progress of Nigeria, Nigerians'

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed pride in the progress recorded by Nigeria as a nation, as well as the achievements of individual Nigerians in different areas of human endeavor.

Governor Uzodimma made this expression in his address to Imo people during the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, Imo State yesterday, October 1st 2024.

He made it clear that we have not built the perfect nation we hoped at independence, but we have made remarkable progress.

“Today, as we celebrate another anniversary of this milestone, I feel very proud of our progress as an independent nation. Despite our numerous challenges, our country enjoy the respect of other members of the committee of nations. I am equally proud of the individual achievements which our citizens have continued to record in the global space, in various fields of endeavor”.

He said Imo State have recorded transformative progress in all areas of human endeavor, promising that his government will continue to give priority to the development of infrastructure, economic growth and social welfare.

He called on Nigerian youths to take the opportunity before them, challenge the status quo and take charge of building the Nigeria of our dreams.

“As we step into our 64 years of independence, let us do so with renewed hope and unwavering faith in our nation. Nigeria is winning and each passing they, with every individual effort, we itch closer to greatness”.

The Imo State Governor posited that, like all nations of the world, Nigeria is a work in progress and despite the worries and challenges of today, he is optimistic of better days ahead, as he believes strongly in the saying that our future will be better than our past.

“Let us therefore come together, as brothers and sisters, with the interest of our country in the forefront, work collectively, shun violence, discrimination, tolerate each other, love our neighbour and then build a great nation.
