‘My major achievement in 2024 was dismantling Biafra Supreme Headquarters in Orsu’ – Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze

Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Usman Lawal has enthused that the major achievement of the Brigade, under his command in 2024 was dismantling the Biafra Supreme Headquarters at the area bothering Orsu LGA in Imo State and Ihiala LGA in Anambra State, otherwise known as the mother valley.

Lawal made this assertion while fielding questions from newsmen after the celebration of 2024 Waste Africa Social Activities of the Nigerian Arm.

“The major operation I conducted this year was in February, when I dismantled the Biafra Military Supreme Headquarters, their Command structure, where we entered into the Mother Valley and destroyed it, neutralized a lot of the dissidents and recovered a lot of their equipment, weapons and ammunition.

“I equally operated within the Okigwe General Area where we also destroyed another of their headquarters. We equally went to B44 camp at Ezioha, Mbaitolu LGA, where they have a camp at an area bothering Njaba, as well as Oru East and West LGAs and destroyed it.

“We equally tackled crude oil theft within the Niger Delta area of Imo State, dismantled their structures, leading to improved crude oil exploration from the state”.

In the area of training, General Lawal said his personnel participated in the “Exercise Bulkam Glow, a major training artillery exercise which also serves a a competition, where they emerged victorious.

Lawal said the Waste Africa Social Activities, started during the colonial era, when army personnel from the West Africa region were conscripted and helped to win the world war.

He said it has over the years been established as an activity to mark the successful completion of the training and operational activities for the year.

“We normally unwind. As you can see, officers and soldiers, with our friends are mixed together in a social gathering, to have fun, enjoy variety of cultural delicacies, away from normal routine life”.
