May 29: More trouble for Taraba Governor, Kefas as political appointees threaten to down tools over non-formal appointment letters, salary, others

From indications, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State may encounter a political shock in the near days as some political appointees mainly SSA’s, SA’s and PA’s have threatened to dump their appointments over non-official engagement.

The proposed down tools according to some appointees who spoke to our correspondent in Jalingo on Tuesday was sequel to governor Kefas deliberate action not to present them with appointment letters or commence payment of their salaries since more than one year of engagement.

To this end, majority of the appointees have decided to take the governor unaware of the plans but to shock him via collective dumping of appointments after May 29, 2025 as part of the new packaging for celebration of his second anniversary of his administration.

According to some of them who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, they vehemently expressed disappointment and disbelief over the governor’s attitude for appointing more than 1,473 special advisers and aides for over one year without a single letter of engagement let alone salary.

“Some of us have resolved to resign from the Kangaroo appointments immediately after May 29th as a payback special package to him for his second year anniversary in office.”

“it is obvious that the governor is deliberately doing this to us. How can you imagine a group of such politicians answering SA’s and so forth without an appointment letter, no salary, no allowance, no offices nor official cars. People are mocking us everywhere, expectations are high from the people yet you are being addressed as ‘Honorable’ with empty stomach, hunger, frustration, and anger, my brother enough is enough”, they lamented.

Meanwhile, findings by our correspondent in the state also revealed that the ugly situation was not only peculiar to special aides alone but cut across chairmen and members of Boards and Commissions as majority disclosed secretly that they are now poorer than before.

People no longer offer things on credit to them while majority assumed that they are eating with the governor and have no business to purchase things on credit.
