Over 5,000 persons have benefited from free Medical treatment offered by a United States of America (USA) based organization, Lifted Hands Incorporated in conjunction with Okechukwu & Love Foundation at Ogidi and Abatete Communities all in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The 2025 edition of the outreach, tagged: “Ogidi Medical Mission,” was held at Ogidi Town Hall and extended to surrounding communities, including Abatete, Eziowelle, and Umunachi.

The beneficiaries received a wide range of services including general medical consultations, dental and eye examinations, diabetes and hypertension screenings, mental health assessments, and the distribution of medications, eyeglasses, food, clothing, and hygiene supplies.

Speaking during the outreach, the founder of Lifted Hands Incorporated, Mr. Moses Okaro said the outreach was aimed to serve between 3,000 to 5,000 individuals this year.

He highlighted the urgency of some cases identified during consultations.

Okaro said that about 15 to 20 patients has been referred for urgent hospital care, including orthopedic emergencies on cost.

The traditional ruler, Ogidi Community and pharmaceutical entrepreneur, Igwe Pharm. Alexander Oyido, who in his support, sent a large quantities of medicine through his company applaud the foundation for giving back to the society through medicare outreach adding that if every town had someone like Moses Okaro, Igboland would be like heaven.

In an inview with the Medical Team Leader for the outreach who is also a Consultant pediatrician at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Patience Obiagwu stressed the need of combining treatment with health education.

She elaborate on the high level of blood pressure encountered by people without their knowledge.

Obiagwu narrated how a man arrived nearly unconscious with a BP reading of 220/120. “We’re seeing a public health crisis marked by widespread hypertension and diabetes.”

“Many residents rely on self-medication or herbal remedies, which often worsen their conditions. We emphasize lifestyle changes, regular checkups, and the dangers of indiscriminate use of painkillers.”

In addition to medical services, Lifted Hands also supported schoolchildren with back-to-school supplies where they distributed over 1,000 school bags and 7,000 exercise books, as part of a larger shipment of 15,000 educational materials.
