Infrastructural decay worries Anambra Journalist, begs Gov. Soludo to save his community

Disturbed by the decay of infrastructure particularly roads in Anam Community in Anambra West Local Government of Anambra State, a senior journalist, Odikpo Mmadubueze has appealed to Governor Charles Soludo to make his people feel the presence of his administration.

Mmadubueze, a staff of Odenigbo Radio FM, Obosi, Anambra State made the request yesterday at his Umuikwu residence during his mother’s funeral rites.

According to him, Anam and other Anambra West communities have been facing untold hardship as a result of bad roads and lack of power supply.

“I am calling on the Governor of Anambra State to help us and reconstruct our road to ameliorate the suffering of my people. We are among the communities in the state. We supposed to enjoy amenities like them”, he stated.

On his mother’s funeral ceremony, Mmadubueze explained that funeral rites in Anam is a tradition and a belief, stressing that other communities in Nigeria and Africa have their peculiar tradition too.

“Every other people in various communities have their peculiar tradition, that’s the way they believe and the way they behave. Christians could come with any theory, but what we believe as Africans or Anam as a people is that, it demands that I call people together for official funeral of my beloved mother who made me what I am today and celebrate. So, today I slaughtered cows and I am proud to invite people officially for the funeral ceremony of my late mother, Mrs. Catherine Monica Mmadubueze

The funeral attracted dignitaries from the community and beyond including Dr Edochie Onuorah, a telecommunication expert, Deputy Governor of United Peoples Club of Anam, Mr. Udeorji Ifediegwu and Sunday Okonkwo, member of the social club.

They paid tribute to the deceased, urging the family to bear the fortitude of the irreparable loss, commending the bereaved for his courage in giving his mother a befitting burial amidst economic crunch.
