Imo: Uzodimma inspects ongoing reconstruction of Owerri Concord Hotel 

… Satisfies with progress of work

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, yesterday paid an inspection visit to the ongoing reconstruction work at the Imo Concord Hotel, Owerri and expressed satisfaction at the progress of the work.

Fielding questions from Government House press crew at the end of the inspection, Governor Uzodimma said there is no challenge of budget or fund, just that the Imo State Government was trying to maintain the global standard of the Hilton group who will manage the hotel on completion of the reconstruction.

“We are working hard, we are using their architects, structural engineers and a contractor recognized by them.
.
Uzodimma maintained that apart from the traffic the  presence of the Hilton Group will bring into Imo State, it will help improve the state’s economy, by boosting tourism and take the name of the state to the global map, as according to him, bringing Hilton is like bringing the world down to Imo.

Uzodimma further enthused that by the time the project will be nearing completion or is completed, Imolites will be able to understand the type of edifice being put in place.

The Governor further disclosed that his government just signed an agreement with the Managers of Silicon Valley, California, United States of America, who are using Imo as their digital hub for startup for entrepreneur digital skills.

“What we are trying to do is to move Imo State from analogue to digital economy, which is what is invoke now in the world, and what that means is that as a startup hub, people will come from; South East, Nigeria and across Africa.
.
He further revealed that his government was already working with CISCO, Oracle, Microsoft, Zinox Technology.

“So when you bring this digital hub into Imo State, the implementation is that Foreign Direct Investment is real”.
.
He said the USA company is investigating close to $15 million to set up their infrastructure and presence in the state, adding that graduands of the digital hub will be issued with certificate
