Members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN), Imo State branch has commended the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma for massive roads construction in the state.

Chairman of the Association, Sir Chidiebere Okoroafor told the governor during a courtesy call at Government House, Owerri, yesterday, that the roads included Federal Roads which had impacted positively on people’s businesses.

Okoroafor noted that it was as a result of good roads in the state that their trucks carrying petroleum products no longer fall along the roads.

“Your Excellency, we want to say thank you once more. For the past three, four, five months, we have not had issues of our trucks falling down as a result of bad roads. Before now, it was on weekly basis that you see trucks carrying petroleum products falling on the roads.
.
“You can imagine, with this high cost of petroleum products, where a truck contains product worth between 30 to 40 million naira fall down and such amount of money is lost, as a result of bad roads.
.
He said that petroleum marketers in the state are doing alot to help the masses in terms of price, challenging anyone who might be in doubt to investigate what the product is being sold in other states, then compare and contrast.

The governor had promised to intervene in the issue with Watersmith and Imo State marketers are suppose to be getting more allocation from it.

Meanwhile, the marketers reminded the governor his promise to allocate land to them to build their corporate office.
.
Responding, Governor Uzodimma promised never to allow anybody to cheat members of the association as long as he remains governor of the state.

Uzodimma said plans by the association to build a corporate office would help change face of the state, reiterating that he would give them land without any delay.

The governor also promised to meet with Waltersmith and other concerned petroleum companies to find a way of making more of the products available to members of Imo IPMAN.

While reminding the visitors of the importance of regular payment of taxes, the governor urged members of the association to do whenever they can to make petroleum products affordable for Imolites.

“Things are really hard and the masses are suffering”, he said.
.
He gave the Association an ‘open cheque’, urging them to always call his attention to anything they want him to do which will be for the betterment of the state.
