Imo Guber: Uzodimma describes conduct of election as smooth, hitch free, impressive

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described the conduct of Saturday gubernatorial election in the state as smooth, hitch-free and impressive.

Speaking to newsmen after casting his vote at polling booth 032 Onuma, Oru East Local Government Area of the State on Saturday, the governor said he saw voters who were enthusiastically queuing up to cast their votes for candidates of their choice, adding that the process at that point was very smooth.

Uzodimma said he was not surprised about the large turnout of enthusiastic voters as it was his home town and his polling booth in particular.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for orderliness of the process and the environment, contrary to the pessimism that there would not be a conducive environment for voting to take place.

On issue of security, the governor said people like him who are in politics to serve the people; stay with the people, discuss with the people and say what is really on ground, while those who are out to cause confusion will just go to the social media to fabricate stories and publish.

“I want the whole world to now see that Imo is a place of destination and there is peace here. Contrary to the expectations of the naysayers, the election is going on; free, fair and credible”.

The governor said the whole process was going on smoothly, as electoral officials arrived very early and election started as at 8am.

He expressed optimism of emerging victorious in the election, judging by his quality service to the state and massive support he enjoys from Imolites.
