Imo: Gov Uzodimma hosts GOC 82 Division Nigerian Army

…Lauds military, other security agencies for restoring security in South East

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has lauded the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their dedicated service that has restored security and relative peace in Imo State and the entire Southeast geo-political zone.

Uzodimma made this commendation in his address while hosting the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army South East zone of Nigeria.
.
The Governor made it clear that the state has wonderful relationship with the Nigeria Military and the state has peacefully hosted the 34 Artillery Brigade for many years and recently the Naval Brigade.
.
He used the opportunity to stress the gratitude of the people and government of Imo State to the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies who have put in so much to contain the ugly incidents of insecurity which beseeched the South East, to restore peace in state.

The Governor used the opportunity to appreciate President Bola Tinubu who he said has confronted security situation of the country with all seriousness it requires, and consequently restored relative peace and security to the country.

“We have observed with gratitude and happiness how lately the officers and men of the various security agencies in the South East has taken the battle to the criminals, which have yielded wonderful result.
.
“We urge you to continue with the tempo. Don’t relent, be vigilant. On our part, we will give every support, corporation to ensure that the people of the South East and residents in the zone will have security and be able to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.
.
While lauding the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze for his uncommon determination to confront the security challenges of the state, he informed the GOC that Imo State has the best inter agency corporation among the security agencies.

Earlier in his speech, the 39th General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, who doubles as joint Commander Joint South East Taskforce Operation Udoka, Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye, said he took over as the GOC on 27th January 2025, while the visit to Imo State was his maiden operation and familiarization tour to the state.

He said  the courtesy visit is one of the programmes outlined for his visit which is to appreciate the governor for his encouraging support for the security agencies in the state.
