Gov Uzodimma Swears-in New Permanent Secretaries As 'New Imo Is Possible' Re-echoes

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has sworn-in the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state.

Uzodimma while charging the top government functionaries on their fresh portfolios, reiterated, “A New Imo is Possible”

The governor also at Government House, Owerri, venue of the event, donated new set of vehicles for the offices of the Permanent Secretaries.

He congratulated the Permanent Secretaries on their appointment, urging them ‘to be above board, lead by example, show discipline, commitment and defend the interest of Imo people.”

“So, go home with our mandate, mandate that a new Imo is possible. If you believe in it, you will make sacrifices, so we can move from where we are, to where we are supposed to be”, he told them.

While acknowledging that with the appointment and swearing-in, some ministries will still be without substantive Permanent Secretaries, the governor said that he has approved for another process of appointments to cover up the gaps immediately.

Uzodimma urged them to avoid ethnic, religious and premodial sentiments in their decision making.

He disclosed that he did extensive security checks and enquiries on the appointees to the best of his human ability and authorized a merit driven exercise, making it clear that none of them lobbied for the position as he never allowed it.

The governor frowned at the situation where past Permanent Secretaries made away with the vehicles given to them for their offices without approval.

He however made it clear that the vehicles are for their offices and not for their private use.
