…Cautions them against complacency

To boost the morale of officers and men of the Nigerian Army and operatives of sister security agencies in various theater of operations in the South East region, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Major General Hassan Dada, Wednesday put together a Sallah lunch for them at the Naval Base, Oguta, Imo State.

In his address, the GOC enthused that, having fasted for 30 days, made numerous supplications to God, it was obligatory for them to celebrate.
.
He said he decided to gather officers and men of the Division, especially troops of the joint security taskforce “Operation Udoka”, to convey the message of the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff to them.
.
According to the GOC, there was no doubt that the troops have put in their best in the fight against insecurity in the region and God has been crowning their efforts with success.
“I was mandated by the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff to most sincerely appreciate your sacrifices which has led to improvement in security in the whole of South East region”.

He however cautioned that it does not mean they should rest on their oars, urging them to redouble their effort to root out all forms of crimes and criminalities, to make sure everywhere is safe and secured across the South East region, so the people can freely go about their normal businesses any day and time, without fear of molestation.

In a vote of thanks, the Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Usman Lawal appreciated God for the grace granted to Muslim faithfuls to fast for 30 days, being able to combine intense security operations and fasting.

Other personalities singled out for special appreciation by the brigade commander included the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs, as well as the GOC.

His fellow Component Commanders and Sector Commanders, heads of other security agencies, principal staff officers of the Division and Operation Udoka, royal fathers, the corps members serving as auxiliary staff, among others were in attendance.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander, Oguta Naval Base, Commodore MB Salisu, appreciated the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, and the GOC 82 Division for their passionate effort to ensure that adequate security of lives and properties was restored to the South East.

He posited that the seemless flow of socio economic activities in the region was as a result of the concerted effort of the Operation Udoka team, put together by the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff and coordinated by the GOC.

While appreciating Governor Hope Uzodimma for his unrelenting support to the armed forces.
in the state, he further appreciated the GOC for deeming it feet to host the luncheon at the Naval base.

The event featured the inspection of Quarter Guard by the GOC, cultural troupe entertainment (Igbab Ndieze), comedy and other side attractions.
