A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as ‘Anyahuma Foundation’ has provided a take-off financial grant to some Opi youths in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State trained on skills acquisition.

Speaking in Nsukka on Monday during graduation ceremony of trainees, Mrs Ekene Ugwuegede the Founder/Sponsor of the foundation said the main of foundation was to give hope to the poor especially youths.

Mrs Ugwuegede said that she instituted the Foundation in memory and honour of her late mother-in-law Mrs Grace Anyahuma Ugwuegede
.
She said that the best 20 out of 41 that graduated in the skills acquisition would be presented with financial take-off grant of N100,000 and N150,000 cheque.

“Among these best 20 graduates, some will get N1000,000 while others will get N150,000 to enable them them to start doing what they have been trained.
.
“The main aim of the foundation is to give hope to poor people especially youths in the area,”she.
.
She explained that, beneficiaries have been trained to make different types of cakes, liquid soap, dettol, bleach, yoghurt, ice cream, fruit juice, meat pie, doughnut, chapman, decorations, among others.

The founder commended the Chief Trainer Mr Sunday Akinwola, the Coordinator of the foundation Mrs Febechukwu Nwagbo, the Manager Mr Fortunate Ezeugwu for their team work and dedication in making the programme a huge success.

Ugwuegede expressed special appreciation to her husband Mr Ikechukwu Ugwuegede for his always maximum support.

“Mr husband is the wings, on which I fly,” she said.
.
In a remark, Ikechukwu said that, the family learnt the act of given from their late father and mother who were school teachers.
.
“My father and mother as school teachers rendered quality community service to the people, we learned the act of giving from them,” he said.
.
He noted that, Anyahuma Foundation is and would remain a non-profit organisation but would welcome any partnership with individual or organisation.

Speaking, the coordinator of the foundation (Nwagbo) commended sponsor for her care and love for poor people by ensuring they were given hope in a hopeless society.

According to her, many youths in the area have also been trained in computer programmes free of charge through the foundation.

She noted that, 70 started the programme 41 graduated, all acquired the skills free of charge while 20 would be given take-off grant today.

“In spite the hard economic condition in the country the sponsor still bring huge amount of money to invest on people.
.
“We should always remember the sponsor in our prayers so that God will replenish her pocket to enable more people to benefit.
.
“The foundation is planning for medical outreach as well as giving scholarship into secondary schools and tertiary institutions to indigent youths in Opi community in no distant time,”she said.

Nwagbo commended Ikechukwu the husband of the sponsor for always supporting the wife to give hope to the hopeless, noting that not every husband could do that.

Also speaking, Mr Benjamin Okenyi, the Secretary of Opi Youths Association, expressed appreciation to Anyahuma Foundation for always investing on youths.

Okenyi advised beneficiaries to ensure that they used the grant given to them for what it was meant fo, to enable the sponsor give more financial grants to others.

Earlier, the Chief Trainer (Akinwola) commended the dedication and commitment of trainees, the foundation coordinator and manager which he said made the training easier and a success
.
Akinwola prayed God to continue to increase the wisdom, strength, knowledge, favours of the foundation sponsor to enable her continue to render selfless service to humanity.

He listed some of the items the youths were trained to produced include: different types of cakes, liquid soap, dettol, bleach, yoghurt, ice cream, fruit juice, meat pie, doughnut, chapman and how to make decorations, among others.

Favour Ezeugwu, one of the beneficiaries of the grant who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the foundation immensely.

Ezeugwu promised that they would put the grant for the purpose it was meant for, in order justify the huge investments on them by the sponsor.

The highlight of the event was presentation of cheques to the 20 grant beneficiaries by the sponsor
