Food Security: Temple of Justice Foundation Wants Agric Show Competition In Enugu

Determined to boost food production in the country, the Temple of Justice foundation, Enugu Nigeria, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has called for the introduction of agricultural show competition in Enugu State, this year’s farming season.

Ozo Alex Amujiogu Esq who is the Executive Director of the organization made the call after their visit at Enyikwauzo Piggery  farms in Ngwo yesterday where various degrees of piggery species and other farm products ranging from Maize ,cassava and the likes are reared and cultivated.

The Foundation, being impressed with the level of productivity and agricultural display commended the Managing Director, Christian Chime, for showcasing the way for an impactful economy in Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Foundation however decried the low rate of governmental support to outstanding farms in Enugu State especially in those areas in which the State can confidently boost of *Comparative economic advantage* than other States under economics of scale.

“It is not in dispute that Enugu State is one of the leading State in Piggery production, poultry farming , Cassava and maiize cultivations which is capable of propelling the State GDP to an astronomical height.

“Additionally, the foundation regretted the non introduction of Agric Show competition in Enugu State which should be held every year as a way of encouraging hard work and competition among  farmers.The said Competition can be organized through the 17 local government farmers representative / delegates.

“This will no doubt boost increased productivity and floodgates of unemployed youths engaging in agricultural production thereby eradicating poverty.
“Consequently, as this year’s agricultural main  season is coming to an end, the foundation calls on the Farmer friendly Governor of Enugu State- Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, through the Commissioner for Agriculture ,to pertinently set up mechanism in motion for the introduction and conduct of Competitive Agric Show in Enugu State among major farmers wherein farmers with the highest and largest of a given product production, will be rewarded either in cash or in kind.
“The Categories can be choosen among *the Farmer with the Largest home grown yam, largest pig, Largest cassava ,Largest Maize among others.
“One will need no binocular to see that the outcome of the event which has a registerable process, will change positively the dynamics of Agriculture in Enugu State.
“With the above innovative move , the call for  Justice in the eradication of poverty and enhancing the standard of living of the poor will gradually be achieved”, the Foundation stated.
