There was jubilation at Achi community last week as members of the Association of Oji-River Local Government Journalists honoured the Medical Director of Palmers Hospital, Port Harcourt, Dr Okey Ibeabuchi with “Life Time Achievement Award”.
.
In a citation read by the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Norbert Okolo, Dr Ibeabuchi was described as a humanist whose exemplary philanthropic gestures towards his people and Oji-River in general needed to be emulated by well-meaning sons and daughters of Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
.
Dr Okey who prefers to keep away from publicity on his numerous interventions, was described as ‘a golden fish that has no hiding place’ considering that he is a private medical practitioner but with a large heart.
.
When asked to reel out some of his achievements, he quietly declined, noting that it is not in his character to do so.
.
But as gate keepers, the Association was very much aware of his outstanding contributions to the socio- economic development of Achi and Oji-River.
.
The citation noted his recent donation of a large sum of money to Algon health center in his community as a case in point.

His regular medical missions in his autonomous community  have been so helpful in giving succour to the indigents. He has never failled to contribute a major share to any worthy project in Oji-Rver Local Government Area.
.
“It is in regard to these outstanding  contributions of Dr Okey Ibeabuchi that he was considered for the life Time Achievement Award by the Association”, the Association chairman explained.
