An umbrella of Nigerians living outside the shores of the country known as ‘Diaspora Voices Network’ (DVN) has called on its founder, Captain Douglas Chukwu (CDC) to contest for the 2027 Presidential seat.
.
Addressing a world press conference in Enugu on Friday, Dr Mathias Madus, Secretary of the Transport Drivers Healthcare Safety Initiative and
Director-General, DVN, and CDC Group, stated that Captain Douglas Chukwu has the potential to lead Nigeria to a brighter future.
.
Madus cited Captain Chukwus’s philanthropic works and compassion for the vulnerable as key reasons he would be an ideal candidate.
.
“Despite not holding any political office, Captain Chukwus has made a significant impact on people’s lives through his charitable works.
.
“We are confident that if given a political mandate, Captain Chukwus will prioritize the welfare of majority of the less- privileged and down trodden in the country”, he said.
.
Madus, a former Special Aide to Ex-governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, urged Captain Chukwu to consider joining a political party that aligns with his values and vision for Nigeria.
.
He expressed optimism that Captain Chukwu’s leadership would be a turning point for Nigeria, enabling the country to achieve its full potentials.
.
His words:
“Captain Douglas (CDC) from Ebonyi State lives in far away United States of America (USA) with interest of the masses at heart.
.
“Captain Douglas Chukwu (CDC) is the Founder/President of the Diaspora Voices Network (DVN) with cult following that cuts across race, religion and political inclination due to his philanthropic nature.
.
“Nigeria faces significant socio-political and economic problems including widespread poverty, insecurity, high unemployment, and corruption.
.
“The economy is overly reliant on oil, leading to high inflation and inadequate infrastructure, while a history of ineffective leadership and governance deficits exacerbates these challenges.
.
“Nigeria is plagued by various forms of insecurity, including terrorism, banditry and kidnapping. Corruption is a primary obstacle to the country’s development and is deeply entrenched in the political and economic systems.
.
According to Madus, Captain Douglas Chukwu would tackle squarely the ineffective leadership and governance, pointing out that “Poor governance, lack of accountability, and leadership deficits hinder progress and contribute to instability.
.
He lamented the growing rate of high unemployment in the country, stressing that a significant portion of the population, especially the youth, struggles with unemployment, which had largely contributed to social issues like crime and poverty.
.
“A large portion of the population lives in poverty, struggling with issues like food insecurity and we strongly believe that our boss, Captain Douglas Chukwu is the man that can solve the problems”, he stated.
