As part of measures to ensure sustained regular storm water evacuation from the low lying Ifeobara/Ariaria axis of Aba, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, has directed Ariaria International Market Committee to immediately take over the task of regular pumping of water out from Ifeobara pond.
Speaking on Wednesday through the State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the governor said the state government had also provided resources to the committee for the replacement of the vandalized cables linked to the two power generating sets, electricity transformer and the water pump.
“In addition, the committee is to ensure the security of all government assets at the Ifeobara pond and undertake regular storm water pumping to ensure protection of the market from negative effects of heavy rains”, he added.
