Wednesday, September 27, 2023 was like any other mid-week to many people except for some Christian faithful who used part of the day to commune with God in churches or prayer houses.
.
But for the students of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Agbani, it was a special day they set-aside to honour their Vice Chancellor, Professor Aloysius Michaels Okolie for his unique leadership role in the university community.
.
Led by its President, Comr Donatus Okolieuwa fondly called by his admirers, “Dona4All”, the Students Union Government (SUG) executive members stormed the office of the Vice Chancellor with an Award of Excellence to the admiration of the university authority.
.
The Administrative Block of ESUT where the event took was electrified the moment the student leaders began to sing their solidarity song, attracting more students to the area. ‘Ogene’ troupe thrilled the audience with music and traditional dance.
.
Describing Professor Okolie as a Digital Vice Chancellor, the SUG President, Okolieuwa explained that the presentation of the award was in recognition of his “unwavering commitment towards uplifting, standardizing and promoting academic excellence in our prestigious institution of learning, ESUT.”
.
Indeed, ESUT has been in the news for sometime over health issues which the university authority had since denied vehemently, saying there was no health challenge in the Institution.
.
Little wonder, the university community particularly the Vice Chancellor saw the award ceremony as a cheering news.
.
The Vice Chancellor thanked the SUG leadership for giving him the award, urging them to remain law abiding students.
.
