Stakeholders from the Enugu West Senatorial District, Enugu State in Labour Party have endorsed Dr John Okechukwu Nwokeabia as the party leader in the zone.

Nwokeabia was the Deputy Governorship Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections.

Rising from their meeting at the residence of Chief Nwokeabia on Wednesday which was convened by all the Labour Party Local Government Chairmen in Enugu West Senatorial Zone in consultation with the Party State hierarchy, the stakeholders officially endorsed the 2023 Deputy Candidate as their leader in Enugu West Zone.

In an emotion ladden Speech, Dr John Nwokeabia was described by an erudite lawyer and Labour party Stakeholders Leader in Ezeagu Local Government Area Barrister Okenna Agubuzu as a square peg in a square hole, a team player and a decent politician who knows how to bring together progressive minded people that are set to positively change the fortunes of Labour Party narrative in the State going forward.

Barrister Agubuzu further assured H.E Dr Nwokeabia that the entire Labour Party in Enugu west will rally round him in achieving a great Success in the forthcoming elections in the state.

Dr Walter Oji, former Council Chairman Udi local government, a former Governorship candidate and Leader of the Stakeholders forum Udi Local Government also gave his support to Dr Nwokeabia.

In his speech, Dr Oji extolled the leadership virtues of Dr Nwokeabia and praised the conveners of the meeting nothing that it was long overdue. He opined that this initiative will set a new direction in Enugu West as the various Local Government Areas Stakeholders will now be fully integrated and engaged in the affairs of the Party.

Other Speakers such as Barrister Nwobodo Leader Aninri Stakeholders Forum, Hon Emma Obi Leader Oji River Stakeholders Forum, Chief George Nwankwo Leader Agwu Stakeholders Forum pledged their support to the Party and Leadership of Dr Nwokeabia, promising to do all that are required to move Enugu West to the desired level.

In his address, Dr Nwokeabia thanked the conveners of the meeting especially the Local Government Chairmen for their steadfastness and commitment to the Party.
Nwokeabia said that the main objective of this meeting was to specifically thank some of the Party’s stakeholders who sacrificed so much to the success of the Party in the last election. He promised that this will be routinely done going forward to accommodate other stakeholders.

He also said that with the emergence of Leaders of Stakeholders Forums in the various Local Government Areas, the much needed help by the Local Government Chairmen in runing the affairs of the Party, internal Party conflict resolution, mass mobilization of new members, and financing of the Party had been made possible and easier.

He charged the Stakeholders Forum to be meeting regularly and to use their wealth of experience in advising their Local Government Chairmen on ways to improve the affairs of the Party, reminding them that the Party is supreme always.

Barrister Simon Akachukwu the State Secretary in his contribution thanked Dr Nwokeabia for his very impactful Contribution to the Success recorded by the Party in the last election. He also acknowledged his efforts in rejigging the Party noting that the Party faithfuls has been giving a new hope by the ‘thank you’ visits of His Excellency in all the Local Governments in Enugu.

The meeting also deliberated on other salient issues affecting the Party.

Other notable speakers in the meeting include General fidelis Azinta represented by Barrister Simon Akachukwu,
Hon Uchenna Igwebuike Ekwe represented by Chief Eddy Ilechukwu, Chief Fred Chigbata, Barrister OAU Onyema, Engr Charles Obasi, Barrister Basil Aguigwo among others.
