Enugu SWAN Congratulates new Sports Commissioner, Ekweremadu, assures maximum cooperation

Members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Enugu State Chapter have congratulated Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu on his assumption of office as the  Commissioner of Youth and Sports in the state.

LIoyd, a lawyer, is the son of the former Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu.
.
In a congratulatory message signed by the state chairman of SWAN, Gideon Iwueke, Secretary, Chinedu Adonu and Treasurer, Chibuzor Nwoye, made available to Daily News Nigeria on Monday, described the newly appointed Commissioner as “a vibrant, young and visionary individual.”
.
The Enugu sports writers assured the Commissioner of maximum cooperations in development of sporting activities in the state.

Parts of the statement read:

“We accept your appointment while urging you to swing into action to reshape the decaying values of sports in the state.
.
“Before now, Enugu State SWAN had clamored for the revival of grassroots and secondary school sports to help harness talents in sports activities and make Enugu State the attraction for sports location.
.
“We also pray that your new office will critically look into the long abandoned Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium to help Enugu Rangers International Football Club and Athletes return to  their homes.
.
“As we pray for a fruitful tenure, we appeal that you partner with Enugu State SWAN for the development of sports in the state as well as the resuscitation of the state Sports Council at Independence Layout, Enugu and Awgu Games Village which have been in moribund for decades.
.
“We once again thank the governor, Barr. (Dr) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for constituting the State Executive Council.
.
“We assure you of our readiness to promote Enugu State Sports as our association is bent on using every medium to promote government efforts in the sports sector across all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.”
