The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state as they joined Muslims worldwide in celebrating the Eid-el-Fitr, following the completion of Ramadan fasting.
The commissioner stated this in an Eid-el-Fitr goodwill message signed on his behalf by the state’ Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday in Enugu.
The commissioner assured residents that robust security measures had been put in place throughout the festivities and its accompanying public holidays and beyond.
He said, “I have ordered the strategic deployment of the Command’s operational and intelligence resources across Enugu State.
“Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Tactical Units have been directed to implement proactive and visible policing strategies to prevent any breach of peace during and after the celebrations.”
The state police boss further emphasised that security lapses would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“I extend my best wishes to the Muslim community for a peaceful and joyous celebration.
“I also encourage them to observe the occasion responsibly, strengthen communal bonds and extend kindness to their neighbours in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan.
“The command wants all residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or via its emergency lines: 08032003702 or 08086671202,” he said.
