Ebonyi Govt Begins Work on Abandoned Water Works Road

Ebonyi State government has begun reconstruction of dilapidated Water Works End Road leading to low-lift facility, abandoned several years ago.

The road leads to Ebonyi River, where the state water reservoir that supplies water to the citizens was built, but was since abandoned.

Recall that governor Nwifuru on Wednesday had visited the road and the bridge to ascertain the level of damage, and ordered for the immediate reconstruction of the road and the bridge.

Speaking with journalists at the construction site, the commissioner for works and transportation, Engr Stanley Lebechi said the reconstruction was to pave way for the really maintenance of the reservoir, such that, it will supply portable water to the people of the state.

Mbam, however, maintained that the Governor Nwifuru’s led administration would not stop to fulfill his campaign manifestos of people’s charter of needs, stated that the road would not only serve for one purpose but as well serve the residents of the communities across the street.

According to him, “The clearing of the waterworks road has commenced, and once, we reconstruct this road, the reservoir which is meant to supply water to the people of Ebonyi State is located inside. The maintenance of the reservoir will start as soon as, the road is reconstructed.

“We are picking the design of the road and the surveyors are working and the total kilometer of the road will be made known as soon as the clearing is over.

He started further that “This road was completely abandoned, just yesterday, governor visited here and today work has commenced and within short period of time the low lift will be done.

“I can confidently tell you that work has started at low lift Because of the bushy nature of the road” he stated.
