Founder/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danniel Ukwu Leadership Foundation, Dan Ukwu, has condemned in its entirety the demolition exercise going on in some parts of Lagos State, saying it should have human face and follow due process, and not to target a particular section of the country.
.
Ukwu, however, said that Igbo are not foolish by developing Lagos and other parts of the country even as it is clear that Ndigbo are the target of the demolition exercise by Lagos State Government which might not be unconnected with the outcome of last general elections in the country where Ndigbo swayed the electoral votes to Labour Party (LP).
.
“Igbo are not foolish. Following the outcome of the last general elections, it seems that Nigeria is divided into three major ethnic groups- Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani
.
“Between 1960-date, Igbo man has not been given opportunity to rule apparently as a result of the civil war. Trace the history. Yet Igbo are complaining bitterly but no opportunity has been created for them.
.
“The painful aspect is that Igbo properties are being destroyed in Lagos under the watch of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC even after the exclusion of Ndigbo by Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
.
“Yes, it is injustice and some argued that Igbo are foolish by developing Lagos. But such assertion is erroneous as Lagos was former capital of Nigeria and close to seaport making it the economic hub of the country.
.
“Besides, Igbo by their adventurous character, are developing other parts of the country beyond Lagos.
.
“Ironically, Lagos State Government misinterpreting Igbo openness as a sign of weakness not knowing that they are hurting themselves and not Ndigbo.
.
“The suggestion that Igbo should go back to develop the
South-East Zone is childish and unpatriotic.
.
“Using water way is unacceptable as there were approval for Developers by the relevant authorities.
.
“Leadership is about large heart and abundant mentality and not scarcity as practised by the Lagos State Government. What is being implemented will tell on the present governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu in future, politically”, Ukwu said.
