A source close to Chief Madukas Jibero has disclosed that there are alleged threats to eliminate Chief Madukas Jibero and members of his family.

The source who preferred to remain anonymous alleged that the on-going threats had forced Chief Jibero and his family to go into hiding.

His statement:

“I write with deep concern and a strong sense of urgency regarding the repeated attacks and persistent threats to the life of Chief Madukas Jibero and members of his family. These incidents are not isolated; they form a disturbing pattern of targeted violence that raises serious questions about safety, accountability, and the state of security in our country.

“Chief Jibero and his family have narrowly escaped death on more than one occasion. Most alarmingly, these threats have extended to his children, including a daughter who was attacked last year while at university. She sustained injuries during the struggle and only survived by chance. This matter was reportedly brought to the attention of the police, yet the family continues to live in fear.

“As a result of these ongoing threats, the Chief and his family have been forced into hiding. They cannot live normal lives or sleep without fear of attack. No citizen should be subjected to such conditions, regardless of political affiliation, social status, or community position.

“This case reflects a broader and deeply troubling reality. Insecurity manifested through kidnapping, banditry, and targeted attacks has become a daily occurrence. Many families have fled the country out of fear, while others live in constant anxiety, unable to freely go about their daily responsibilities. Children are no longer safe in schools, and parents fear for the lives of their loved ones.

“We must ask ourselves: should a nation continue like this? When citizens live in fear of the unknown, when justice appears slow or absent, and when lives are endangered without consequence, the foundation of society is weakened.

“I respectfully call on the relevant authorities, security agencies, and institutions to:

“Conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the attacks and threats against Chief Madukas Jibero and his family;
.
“Provide adequate protection to the victims and others facing similar risks;
.
“Address the growing insecurity affecting communities across the country; and reassure citizens through visible action that their lives truly matter.
.
“I also urge the media and civil society organizations to give this matter the attention it deserves. Silence and inaction only embolden perpetrators and deepen public fear.

“This appeal is made in the interest of justice, human dignity, and the fundamental right of every citizen to live without fear.
