Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Barrister Nnamdi Anyaehie has commended the Imo State Police Command for the transformation that has taken place in the Tiger Base unit in the state.

Anyaehie lauded the Commander of the Base, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ola and his men for turning the unit into a decent environment.

The Chief of Staff made this commendation in his address during the official commissioning of a newly constructed mapping detention facility and other renovated facilities in the base last Friday.

He said the Imo Police under the leadership of Aboki Danjuma has sanitized the state of criminal elements, ensuring that criminal activities in the state have been reduced to the bearest minimum.

According to the Chief of Staff, “With the Tiger Base unit of the Imo Police Command, criminal activities in the state are now down to near zero.
.
“The work you do is a thankless job. You put your lives on the line for us the citizenry, and we appreciate you for what you do. Without you we will be living in a society of lawlesssness.
.
“I want to also let you know that His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma is very very happy with what is happening in Tiger Base, that this building he started has been completed to the Glory of God”.

In his address, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma applauded the Tiger Base for all the sacrifices the personnel have been making to safeguard the state from criminals, even with the loss of lives and grievous injuries to their personnel.

He disclosed that Governor Hope Uzodimma released a huge sum of money, for the commencement of the building, while some other stakeholders and friends of the Command donated generously to actualize the building and other renovation works that has completely transformed the outlook and facilities of the Tiger Base.

He however pleaded with the operatives of the Base to obey the rule of law and always respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens while carrying out their operations. He went ahead to apologize to citizens whose rights have been trampled upon by personnel of the Base.

In his remarks, the Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General I.M. Abass, who was represented by Major Joseph Akubo appreciated Governor Hope Uzodimma for his continued assistance for all security agencies in the state which has helped to boost their morale in fighting crimes to a standstill.

Having worked closely with operatives of the Tiger Base in different theater of operations in the state, Akubo enthused that they are all gallant, adding, “I must say that the doggedness of the Tiger Base has really brought peace to Imo State”.

Also making a remark, Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Owerri, Barr. Chris Ihentuge applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his passionate interest in the security of lives and properties, which has brought about enormous improvement in the security of the state.

He corroborated the request of the Commissioner of Police for operatives of the Tiger Base to stop dabbling into civil matters and every other practice of overstepping their bounds.
