General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, General H.T. Dada has described 2024 as a year of unquantifiable sacrifices for the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, saying they have lost gallant warriors, precious equipment in their ongoing fight against terrorism, secessionist agitation and oil related economic crimes, among others, across the country.

Dada stated this during a Sallah luncheon for members of the joint security taskforce in the South East zone, codenamed Operation Udoka, at the 211 Regiment Group, Nigerian Air force base, Owerri the Imo State capital.

The GOC posited that the event afforded them an opportunity to take a retrospect on how they have fared as individuals and as members of the joint security taskforce, Operation Udoka, adding that it was also used to appreciate God for the relative peace He has used members of the Nigerian armed forces to return to most parts of Nigeria.

“As an armed force, it has been a year of unquantifiable sacrifice in blood and pressure, as we have lost gallant warriors, precious equipment, in our ongoing fight against terrorism, secessionist agitation and oil related economic crimes, among others”.

He said the armed forces have continued to display uncommon courage and faith in the in the face of grave danger and remain resolute towards winning all land, maritime and air battles against the adversaries of the nation.

Earlier in his address the Air Commodore Idorenyi Friday Bassey Commander 211 Quick Response Group Nigerian AirForce Owerri Regiment Base, recognized the untiring support of members of their families and loved ones, who also made sacrifices, supporting them in their bid to keep the nation safe and secure.

Bassey said: “As we come together, to share stories, memories, laughter at this luncheon, let us also reflect on those values which underscores the military probation which includes; Respect, duty, loyalty, selfless service integrity, personal courage and the unbreakable bond of comradeship”.

He appreciated the GOC 82 Dive and Commander joint taskforce Operation Udoka, General H.T. Dada, under whose auspices the troops gathered for the luncheon.

The Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Usman Lawal in his vote of thanks, appreciated President Muhammadu Bihari, Governor Hope Uzodimma and other South East governors, Chief of Defense Staff, General C.G. Musa and all the Service Chiefs for their wonderful support for the joint security taskforce, Operation Udoka which had made the success recorded so far possible.

He equally appreciated the officers and men of the joint taskforce, as well as individuals and groups who had contributed in one way or the other towards the achievements so far recorded in security of lives and property in Southeast zone.
